Socrative is an interactive question/response website that can be accessed by both teachers and students to use in the classroom.
Advantages of Socrative:
  1. It's free!
  2. Teachers can create quizzes, reviews, etc. or use Socrative's premade exit ticket for a quick ticket out the door activity
  3. Teachers do not need to manually input all of their students names into their account. The student puts in their own name each time they start an activity.
  4. At the end of each activity, Socrative emails you the students results in an Excel file. The results include the anwers that each student choose, whether they got it correct or incorrect, total points scored, and their percentage.
  5. Can be run on all mobile devices with internet access. I know Apple has a Socrative app. If you device does not, Socrative has a mobile website that can be accessed at m.socrative.com. I use my iPod touch hooked up to the scool's WiFi so I can walk around the room and monitor the students while they take a Teacher Guided Quiz.
  6. Activities can be Teacher Guided or Students Guided so they can work at their own pace.
  7. Students do not need to remember another username and password. They simply put in your Socrative Classroom Number.
  8. Allows for impromptu questions and polls of your class.
  9. Students can input short answer to short answer questions.
  10. Teachers can share quizzes they have made with other teachers.

Disadvantages of Socrative:
  1. Cannot easily add images or video to questions (Follow this link to learn how to add them... https://sites.google.com/site/amescsdtech/kwiktips/addinganimageorurltoasocrativeassessment)
  2. Requires laptops for each student (or students can work in groups). Allow students to use mobile devices for educational purposes?

Here is a 10 minute video that walks you through the steps on how to setup and use Socrative (I did not make this one). Please let me know if you have any questions. I really like this tool!
